Roasting Green Chile
The Chile Harvest is Here!
Hatch, the chile capital of the world, is ready to ship out their crops of Big Jim’s. There are certainly many varieties of green chiles, but Big Jim seems to be the favorite.
At this time of year, local grocery stores as well as Walmarts and Sam’s, set up a huge rotating grill basket where customers are encouraged to bring their chiles in for roasting. Then all you have to do is take home the roasted chiles, peel them, seed them, wrap and freeze until the time you need them. Can’t get much simpler than that.
Personally, I would prefer to roast them at home on the BBQ grill. There is nothing like the aroma of roasting chiles to let you know Fall is right around the corner.
